Yvette Vieira, DMH, HEC-C

Yvette Vieira, DMH, HEC-C, serves as Director of Palliative Care and Healthcare Ethics at Atlantic Health System, where she leads systemwide strategy to embed healthcare ethics into clinical practice through policy, consultation, and education. She also advances high-quality, sustainable palliative care through interdisciplinary team-based models and oversees the Medical Aid in Dying Program.

Dr. Vieira also serves as an adjunct professor and practicum liaison for Drew University’s Medical and Health Humanities Program. She earned her Doctorate in Medical Humanities in December 2025 and is certified as a Healthcare Ethics Consultant by the American Society for Bioethics and Humanities. Her doctoral research examined the lived experiences of interdisciplinary team members supporting patients at the end of life, including in the context of medical aid in dying, with a focus on moral experience, relational ethics, and collaborative practice.

She is an active member of the Medical Society of New Jersey’s Bioethics Committee and serves as an ethics consultant with the Academy of Aid-in-Dying Medicine. She is also a board member of NJ Death with Dignity and the NJ Goals of Care Coalition.
