The Academy is the leading national research, information, and training organization establishing evidence-based best practices in aid-in-dying clinical care.

We inform and educate clinicians about aid-in-dying medicine, from data-based pharmacology to assisting families in conflict; palliative care to the work of bedside volunteers; medical ethics to hospice policies; doctors to doulas.

When a terminally ill patient is considering or completing aid in dying, they deserve the best care possible. If, after thorough discussions about all options and goals of care during a terminal illness, and in conjunction with continued palliative care as their illness evolves, a patient wishes to proceed — we ensure that their clinicians are skilled in the medical and psychosocial details of aid in dying.

Seven Essential Courses

Equipping frontline clinicians to confidently care for patients considering or completing aid in dying. This series curates our top materials, delivering the latest evidence-based recommendations and best practices. We welcome all clinicians, especially our new colleagues in New York, Delaware, and Illinois, to launch their explorations here.

Course content is free to view. Continuing education units or completion certificates are available for purchase. Complete the series to earn the Academy’s Certificate of Expertise in Aid-in-Dying Care.
