Lonny Shavelson, MD

Lonny is an aid-in-dying physician, a founder and former Chair of the American Clinicians Academy on Medical Aid in Dying (Academy), and a recognized leader in the field. He’s written numerous articles and books on aid in dying and contributed to amicus briefs for pivotal court cases. Lonny currently serves as the Director of Education with the newly formed Academy of Aid-in-Dying Medicine, where he leads efforts to teach, mentor, and collect and analyze data to support evidence-based practices in aid-in-dying care. In his prior career as a journalist (www.photowords.com) Lonny reported for NPR and produced documentary films.
